Sadly, due to the recent bout of bad weather, last year's lighting-up ceremonies had to be cancelled.  However, the tree was still erected on The Village Green and all the lights went on, including Derwent Parade, outside the shops in Broxburn Drive and South Parade.

Due to the current financial situation Trustees are uncertain as to what SOCF will be able to do this year.

SOCF  pay for ALL the lights (approx £6K) and Thurrock Council Housing Department carries the bill for the extra electricity during the month the lights are switched on. Please watch this space for further updates of events planned

MAY WE REMIND YOU THAT SOCF HOLDS THE ENTERTAINMENT LICENCE FOR BOTH OCKENDON VILLAGE GREEN AND DERWENT PARADE. ANYONE WISHING TO HOLD AN EVENT REQUIRING ACCESS TO THE LICENCE NEEDS TO APPLY IN WRITING TO THE FORUM.THEY ALSO NEED TO OBTAIN AN EVENTS APPLICATION FORM FROM THURROCK COUNCIL AND RETURN IT AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT
