Take Part

Thurrock is participating in a national Take Part Pathfinder initiative funded by the Government that aims to encourage local people to take part in a variety of voluntary, community and democratic roles. This scheme also enables people to take part by providing training opportunities and support to place people in a variety of opportunities.

Do you wonder why services are run in a certain way, or why organisations make the decisions they do?  Do you feel you have something to offer your community and want to get more involved?

There are many ways you can become involved from joining discussion forums or campaigning on local issues, to becoming a school governor or volunteering to start a football club.  Local residents have a wide range of skills to offer and your ideas and opinions are very important. There is plenty of free training and support available to help people get more involved, and many opportunities offer out of pocket expenses.

An information event, involving a number of external agencies and staff from Thurrock Council departments, will be held at The Forum on Wednesday 23rd March, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm.  If you're interested in becoming a Community Champion and be able to have an input/influence in to what goes on in South Ockendon, then please come along to find out in more detail.  Staff will also be available to help fill out your Census form for you.
